# Lifecycle

Every incident moves through a clear set of stages so you knows where things stand.

1. **Started:** The moment an incident is created. This can be caused by a monitor or done manually on the dashboard.
2. **Acknowledged:** You acknowledged the incident, and users know someone is working on the issue.
3. **Resolved:** The incident is resolved. This can happen on its own when a monitor check passes again, or you can do it manually.
